My Lighthouse

My Lighthouse

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

An analagous poem for my significant other, Tom

"
You are my lighthouse,
my beacon of hope,
lighting my way to safe harbor;
warning me of an approaching storm
and its wind tossed waves,
steering me towards shore,
keeping me from a deep, dark grave.
Not too close to the coral,
not too close to the sand;
gently, guiding me in,
gently, taking my hand.

Thank you! Yes I gave him a copy. He loved it!
Extensive and effective use of metaphors. I love cryptic poems for there is always a space to relate it to some phenomenon. Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you very much!
I like how you draw upon the classic idea of the lighthouse and expand with your idea with other ocean images. One of my favorites was the idea of the coral that could snare you. One can tell that your partners light is strong and that your bond is loving and tender.

Thank you! Yes, I know how fortunate I am!
A beautiful and hopeful poem. We need people to show us the way to safety. The good description allowed the reader to feel the desire and hope in the words. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
