Time Together

Time Together

A Poem by Barbara Walker
"

3 sisters spending time together. We know one hasn't many months to live. non fiction

"
We live in the same city,
but, our other sister is far away.
She flies in to spend ten days,
the three of us;
like the old days.

We know you want good times,
for the months you have left,
so, my cries stay at home, before I leave.
When I am with you, I turn away,
when I feel my chest heave.

I want lots of pictures,
but videos will catch your voice
and you, alive and in action,
however, you wave me away,
"Turn it off," you say.

I comply, but,
my inner voice is screaming,
please, sis, can't you see why?
My teeth clench
and my jaw tightens,
as I choke back the tears.

On the way to the store,
I turn on my phone's
memo recorder,
as you sing along,
loudly and beautifully,
to the radio.
