Impetuous

Impetuous

A Poem by K.P.H.M
"

adjective; acting or done quickly and without thought or care

"

With all the screaming in my ears,

You were hard to hear.

The only thing that got through,

Was what I already knew,

That you were always going to leave me there ,

With sliver woven in my hair.

Lilacs wilted on our tomb,

We were always doomed.

You ripped open the new,

Laughing as you do.

You infected every single one of my bones,

Saturated me to the point of no return,

No chemotherapy could ever rid me of you.

Looking back now,

All the signs were there,

I just choose not the care.

Loving you,

And being loved by you,

Made all of those signs,

Disgustingly moot.

Falling now,

It won’t be long before I reach solid ground.

Until the fresh wounds,

That plague me now,

Will become scars,

That will burn,

Ever time I look at the moon,

And am reminded of you.
