Illicit

Illicit

A Poem by K.P.H.M
"

adjective; forbidden by law, rules, or custom

"

Who am I,

To run from forbidden love?

Who am I,

To deny what’s to come?

You made me come undone,

In a way I thought could not be done.

Lust laced in hemlock,

Slowly pooled in my soul,

Poisoned before we even begun.

The scars I bear from this love,

Cross on my body,

Holding everything snug.

Just like how we were held together with promises,

That could never work out.

The nightingale will always call you home,

You will always leave me,

Cold and alone.

Frozen in what could have been,

Desperately waiting for you to come back,

Again.
