AnaxiphiliaA Poem by K.P.H.Mthe act of falling in love with someone entirely inappropriate, by someone who should know better
What if’s,
A near miss, Some dark corners and a stolen kiss, All this time, Through bottles of wine, I can see it all, through a rose tinted lens. Hand shakes, Save face, A polite smile through red painted lips, But to me, Baby, I can still see it now, Through your lies and tricks, I wanted you to beg me to stay, But you just walked away. And when I look back, On our fall, You could hardly blame me, For thinking I knew it all, You held my face, Kept me in wait, As you drew my love, Into the tangled mess you made, And now I see you, Across the room, And I wonder how time has gone so soon. But to me, Baby, I can still see it now, Through your lies and tricks, I wanted you to beg me to stay, But you just walked away. It hurts how my heart still stirs, Just looking at you, Because I know, you don't feel it too, So I drown myself, In the absence of you, While you sip the wine, I brought for you. And the knife to my heart is, Baby, I can still see it now, Through your lies and tricks, I wanted you to beg me to stay, But you just walked away. Your green eyes lock on mine, Across the room, And you gave me your half hearted smirk, That still undoes me, like the buttons on your shirt. You have me tied around your finger, And the worst part is you know you do, And I deserve more than this, I know I do. But still don’t know what to do, To fall out of mad love with you.
