The Rock BucketA Poem by exotic flotsamA poem about a father loving and remembering the love his life.We filled our plastic rock bucket by the sea She so little, immersed in love from me Her pony tail always too high Never wanting to say goodbye Dancing, playing, building sand castles on the
shoreline I knew she would always be mine I loved her more than any life’s brilliant shine Every day, we went to Tom’s donut shop Always a crucial munchies stop Sitting in the sun, me elated, listening to the
wave My heart in heaven, guiless love
she gave Our bucket, “buckt she’d say, Our buckt filled with rocks, We chatted, I with my 3 year old love, hair in
golden locks Sometimes, I would just look at her, in disbelief
that I could ever deserve this I, in awe of my intense feeling for my love; unbridled
love for my young miss My life’s nectar, my reason for
existing, God knows How deeply and unreservedly I adored my buddy, my
beloved, it shows, Futilely, I sought to etch this emotion deeper in
my heart Than other moments of ecstasy, she and I would
never part Her giggle, her laugh, her mischievous glimmer, her
radiating hair in the sunlight We downed our donuts, wandering toward our ride That I did not deserve her, it was true, But God
gave her to me anyway, He was on our side The doctors told me nothing could
be done At the beach now, looking for her,
God had won. © 2012 exotic flotsamReviews
