The Write Tool

A poem about technology versus simplicity.

 

 

To space we flew

Not one country, but two

The race was one

We sped past the sun

 

When time came to take a note

Writing tools wrote by rote

Ours was new, long and thin

Theirs was old, to their chagrin

 

To note making we did take

We bragged our pen was no fake

Our genius pen cost 4 mil

Their trick created a chill

 

When ours broke down

Deeply did we frown

Said we “Ours cost 4 mill”

Said they “Ours is a pencil”

Simple

This made me think of what lengths people would go to impress…to feel powerful even if it’s not necessary…not really technology and simplicity but I hope it’s not too disappointing that a veered from your intended meaning

i just thought it was really funny, i was going to write a big review pointing out most of the things posted, but this poem speaks for itself.

Something like when persons write using pens is because they are sure of what they are writing, and when persons use pencils they can go back and erase or other people or time could disappear and erase what they wrote.

I've lost track of my review responses, so I'll send you either a repeat, or a late. Thank you for reading my work. Erasing pencil remains the imposing fear using these tools. I wrote three poems about erasers and their potential for menace. Happily, all three are in poetic structures titled "The Eraser". Of course we have Eraser I, II and III. I'm with you on the temporal brevity of pencils. I appreciate your thoughtful review.
