A flight beyond flying

A flight beyond flying

A Poem by S. Michael Long

what is seen,
the shimmer green

the country side
from where weve been

not often lost in skyscraped gloss
we see the same, from 10,000 feet again

no more no less
just patchworked mess

rising higher in the clouds
to hear the voices of the loud

up there high upon the sphere
the minds and voices so ever-clear

we drift along through sift and calm
to drop again

runway 27 my friend

Wow. It's like looking down in panoramic view, the landscape of memory. "Rising higher in the clouds, and hear the voices of the loud." Great line. Sometimes you look at things from every different angle hoping it will appear differently somehow, and it doesn't, it's just 'no more or less a pathworked mess'. This write speaks volumes, you did an excellent job on it.

love the rhyming, and the line "we drift along through sift and calm." Beautifully worded. Great work.

Good work, good theme well worked through with simple, strong language. The kind of poetry I like, it deserves its message down the line and doesn´t try to be enigmatic just to be enigmatic, and then say nothing. Good poem.

Such a wonderful visual appeal!! I like it that you have used simple words, yet brought out the green beauty quite well.

Good job!

I absolutely adore this poem! The imagery is fantastic. You truly know how to paint a picture with your words. Beautifully done. You should be very proud.

I had more time in the air than most of the pilots that jockeyed the planes I was in... you don't forget the feelings nor the sights... and if anything went really wrong you weren't all that far from where most hoped to go.
