ChainsA Poem by Kahtia HowardWritten sometime in 2011 and left incomplete.I'm clinging on by chains with links too proud to give in and break. It was only a matter of time before they upset you and now you've come to seek your easiest, most faithful target. I'm prepared. I see you are kind enough to wear your boxing gloves today. I much appreciate the thought, you need not feel compelled to do so. I've felt that furious ice cold fist of words straight to my teeth without padding- I really don't mind if you'd like to take them off. You're sure? Thank you, you're truly too thoughtful. Wind up for this round and deliver the blow. If it makes you feel stronger and eases your tension then by all means don't hold back. I'm bracing myself, swing away. I couldn't help but notice that you aimed for my left side again, but no need to fret, I have a cage to protect me. My heart only feels the after shock when I question why you aimed.
