Behind that SmileA Poem by WordzikaAfter all, she might not be as strong as you think...Behind
that Smile
Clock ticks the hours away, the flowers bloom and wither, However, not for a moment does her serenity falter, Not for a moment does she shed a tear. To the world, she is strong and brave, To the world, she is alive, What they know not is that she is gone, Dead she is, from the inside. Because it wasn't just him who went away, But also, her unblemished smile, And soon followed suit her peace of mind, Now memories are all that is left behind.
No matter how strong she stays, No matter how hard she tries, Many a countless times she breaks, Many a countless times she dies.
The days pass by somehow, Next, descend the merciless nights, The trodden heart then boards, The wagon of endless fright. The facade of vitality gives away, Under the burden of unfulfilled dreams, The glassy reality cripples, And tears flow down like water in streams. The crevices in the walls ooze down with his voice, The shards of mirror reflect his haunting face, In inhales, she still detects his unmistaken poise, In her touches, the softness of his hair. How she wishes she could say what dwells in those eyes, How she wishes she could make him stay, What won’t she give away to feel his touch once again, To still have him by her side. In the dead of the darkness she mutely wails, She screams inaudibly in the silence of the night, But the dirge of the her weeping heart does not awake, The retired creatures of the night. What agonizes the heart even more, Is to think that somewhere someplace, He too is judging her, Not knowing what she wanted to say...
But as soon as the dawn breaks, And the birds welcome the light, She pushes away his haunting face, His memories fade and subside.
Yes, many a countless times she breaks, Many a countless times she dies, But to the world, she is strong and brave, So she will live and fight. She dons the disguise once again, To face the ones, who come back to life, And, not for a moment does her serenity falter, Not for a moment does she cry.
