The Painter

The Painter

A Poem by Jessica

Envisioned love is nothing to a fragile soul
Hopes and dreams limit the glistened passion
Denying the blood soaked soil where life may grow
Why subject yourself to illusionary perfection
When reality has enough beauty to break you?
My heart has felt the desperate jab of the artist
Unleashing his toils into the crevices
Painting to seal the wounds with flaming despair
And why would I dare close my eyes to ascend
When the sky jolts at your whim?
Lightning and fire together,
Incisions and shredded feathers
In this love, I become a warrior of every season
Never to fade, always to reshape with new scars
Battlewounds from the hand of a healer
Who creates as he destroys
