Nostalgic Nightmares

Nostalgic Nightmares

A Poem by Jessica
"

"Listen to dreams, they always tell you the truth Listen to dreams, it is your heart that is speaking to you"

"
Uncertainties shadow my mind by dusk
As the sunshine fades and memories crawl
Out of their tightly sealed sanctuaries
Which corners of my mind did they lie,
If they were long forgotten but now wrought anew?
This instinctive insanity gnaws at my heartstrings
Free to torture at will, without merciful purpose

Why did you vanish behind those crimson clouds,
Replacing the comfort of color with binding loneliness?
Did fear twist your tongue around its wrist?
Did regret shield your skin from my outstretched arms?
When I begged and pleaded for my star to shine,
Why did I mutter inaudible prayers to myself
In a tear-stained bed, night after hopeless night?

Tonight the sun has set in its routine imprisonment,
And I blink artificial light and twisted desire from my vision
Tonight, there are no stars, there is no guiding moon
So I curl into the secret haven of my soul,
Hoping to find sanctity in the lack of sight,
Yet simultaneous absence of darkness
Why, why are you the first thing my eyes meet
In this nostalgic abyss I call a dream?

Wow... That was really good. I wish I could write like that but I watch too much TV and my imagination has died. It was beautiful. :)
