The Boy Who Cried Wolf

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

A Poem by Jessica

the boy who cried wolf

he showed me nothing but hate
he wasted every part of me that he took
the boy who cried wolf
he left without a trace
but he expected me to wait
he found pleasure in the agony upon my face
the boy who cried wolf
he thought that i was an open book
but when i refused to be restrained,
when the pain i felt could no longer be contained,
our make-believe world shattered
and oh, how the wolf did howl

the boy who cried wolf
the one who longed for flesh and sins so foul
that nature itself cursed the monster it created
the boy who cried wolf
when denied the power to destroy
suffocated by shame,
he experienced a rage that could not be tamed
disgust directed towards his escaped slave
who finally pushed away from his smothering grasp

the boy who cried wolf
he had abused everything he had
when the only company left was his ego
he finally began to know sorrow

the boy who cried wolf,
who lived in disguise
and threw me away before he ever let me in,
to the boy who exists in this pitiful form,
i will show you what it means to forgive
to the boy who cried wolf,
i will try to help you see
that this lie can be transformed
into the strength that you want it to be
and the truth can be revealed in all its beauty
