The StatueA Poem by ewest1220"My glass house, my glass life All gone to the sea"The Statue By: Ethan West Standing in a glass house with shards in my back The world that I’ve known, is the one that I lack Like a house on the shore but too close to sea My intent to withstand, as the water breaks me Apart on the rocks that I knew were there A part of the burden, not mine to bare And now for my hubris and giving it all I’ve lost my meaning, and my wherewithal But stand I still, a sad statue of care A glass knife in my back, that shouldn’t be there Her knife, it was, the one I stood for And with that one strike she opened the door But while it is open, there is nothing but pain I am standing and rusting, a statue in rain A full moon of strife As the tide buries me My glass house, my glass life Are gone to the sea © 2019 ewest1220Author's Note
