Night Time PoemA Poem by Evyn Rubinwith reference to the Hashkivenu in the Jewish evening service
let my dreams be sweet let that old dog come to jaunt and waggle to make me smile
let my mother come to go with me on a field trip see something different engage something kind
let the landscape of my dreams be peopled with respectful or companionable souls
and as night moves around the planet let warring peoples dream of peace let the sick have healing sleep let sleepwalkers not fall down
let insomniacs close their eyes and drift off to their surprise
let us sleep protected, all and awaken in the morning as in an ancient prayer
