Start of a Miracle

Start of a Miracle

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

Dogs & cats involved in the parting of the Red Sea! Imaginative!

"

Start of a Miracle

I was present when we went out of Egypt or so it seems

I had a few companion animals with me dogs and cats

They heard the ground rumbling from the pursuing soldiers

They said goodbye and ran off in two different directions

The cats ran to the rear of the camp to hold off Pharaoh’s army

The dogs ran to their preferred beach to swim their way to freedom

I sat there saying prayers then surprisingly i buried my prayer rocks

Once in the ground It seemed the earth just gulped them down

Nachshon ran by yelling after his brindled hounds

I ran toward the sound of Miriam’s dance troop

I joined their animated midst empty handed but

Ghosts of my rocks juggled themselves vocalizing

Later we all swapped stories as if the participation of each

Had been the initiating factor in this unforgettable event
