InterventionsA Poem by Evyn Rubinan abridged history of attempted interventions on me from Dagny to Corona
I survived Dagny Donner trying to cast me as a concert producer
I survived Louise Klugner trying to cast me as a diminished version of a gay person who needed her guidance socially I survived Rhonda Platter (I'll try not to self batter) trying to cast me as "a marginalized woman who'd been left out for too long" whom she was therefore entitled to include however she saw fit. I survived these prolonged attempted interventions on me damaged and isolated coping traumatized and isolated managing my rage trying to mitigate the damage of these interventions And now Corona Virus is after me and everyone I am a grain of sand warmed by the sun in an expanse of beach I am someone with long stories in an expanse of people with stories the masses of people now imperiled me among them Oh yes I have my stories my quest to let in light and not be overwhelmed by the damage of me And now here comes another attempted intervention this time by a virus a novel virus aimed at the masses of people aimed at the many And I am a foot soldier to help flatten the curve remembering sunlight on sand isolation is now a survival skill I'm one among the many in a perilous world
