Imogene's Imagination

Imogene's Imagination

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

Imogene is a semi-fictional character and this poem briefly describes her active imagination.

"

Imogene's imagination

brought her both joy

and consternation

Imogene's imagination

was sometimes like a big bird

onto whose back she found herself

its strong wings transporting her

to an entertaining place

Other times it is the talons of the bird

that grab her and abscond with her aloft

through an onslaught

to a place of no rest

Imogene looked in the Yellow Pages

for a veterinarian for her imagination

or to find a class to help her

train the bird but no help

was to be found

Perhaps a different metaphor said Imogene

a magic carpet and a pit of despair

Her imagination

has two dispositions

in rotation

Her imagination brought her

both joy and consternation
