Storage Lockers of the Mind

Storage Lockers of the Mind

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

introspective, metaphoric

"

Apparently she has a place where she puts things

intangibles, thoughts, reactions

decisions that need to be made

potential communications

nouns needing verbs,

ideas needing one more ingredients

something needing diplomacy

something that musters anxiety

any thing that tempts procrastination is an ideal candidate

to be stored

no rental fee get one free

to help you stall

in processing the items

of your life

but here to go with your web of lockers

are some imaginary tools

a portable platform ladder, keys and lock cutters, a pry-bar

visualize these and now you can get up to and get into any internal storage locker space

to unload and unpack your store of junk and treasures

souvenirs defaults old bills

all kinds of icons and suits

hearts of stories

clubs of gravity

diamonds of discernment

spades of progress

what's in there? What's in there?

the important and the trivial

spectrums of colors protrude from boxes packed and piled

visible now is that which was like the turtle in the news

wrongly misplaced in an attic for a long time

visible is that which was smartly put away then but utilizable now

mine to sort out all mine

I visualize sorting tables,

giant wastebaskets to use as needed

assorted boxes and cabinets

for repacking as needed

envelopes and stamps

to facilitate my sending as needed

I decide.
