The Beaver's Teeth

The Beaver's Teeth

A Poem by Evyn Rubin
"

This one started for me on a substitute teacher job.

"

The beaver is a rodent

A rodent is a mammal

A rodent is a mammal who gnaws

G * N * A * W * S *

A rodent is a mammal who gnaws

The beaver's teeth are orange

'Cause they're alloyed with iron

The beaver is a champ of gnaw

G * N * A * W * S *

A rodent is a mammal who gnaws

The beaver's' teeth always grow

And so they have to file them

They fell trees and gnaw them into logs

Which they use in their constructions

G * N  * A *  W  *  S  *

A rodent is a mammal who gnaws

Author's Note

Evyn Rubin
I wrote this using a fragment of tune from "Polli Wolli Doodle," to measure each line, or to depart from as well, thus it has a strong cadence.
