The Dance of Raining PetalsA Poem by EverydayPoetWe stood under the tree, arms outstretched, fallen pink confetti petals tangled in our hair. A perfumed kiss drifted down, danced on skin, soft, like the first touch of lips.
Later, we found a blossom tucked inside a pocket, pressed it between pages in a book, a hidden reminder.
His arms encircled me, Keeping me safe.
Smiling, I peer into the sun. Tears form, Streaming down my face.
Safety turns to emptiness, As I awaken, Ensnared, Alone, Twisted in my sheets. © 2011 EverydayPoetAuthor's Note
