The Dance of Raining Petals

The Dance of Raining Petals

A Poem by EverydayPoet

We stood

under the tree,

arms outstretched,

fallen pink

confetti petals

tangled in our hair.

A perfumed kiss

drifted down,

danced on skin,

soft,

like the first touch of lips.

Later,

we found a blossom

tucked inside

a pocket,

pressed it between

pages in a book,

a hidden reminder.

His arms

encircled me,

Keeping me safe.

Smiling,

I peer into the sun.

Tears form,

Streaming down my face.

Safety turns to emptiness,

As I awaken,

Ensnared,

Alone,

Twisted in my sheets.

And he too
in his vast emptiness
stares at you
across the ocean
stretching hands
reaching out
forever

You have written so wonderfully that I couldn't help adding a few lines, probably ruining your poem.

I've read a lot of poetry that doesn't come close to this. It's simple, pure and beautiful. A very nice piece of writing.
