A Lost SoulA Poem by BCsomayA poem about a black snake.Your mama slinked her way through the gap Between the breezeway and the
concrete slab, Sliding into an open crystal
cabinet and depositing a clutch Of creamy leather.
She slithered back to God knows
where without Fear from the bladed edge of
the shovel that Decapitates her kind.
I found you, your mouth gaping, Opening and closing. I thought
you Were string and then, a worm. Instead, my mother screamed and
Whipped you across the room.
Such a rude awakening. We never did find you, We pretended you never existed. © 2016 BCsomayAuthor's Note
