Don't Cry, My Child

Don't Cry, My Child

A Poem by Eve

Don’t cry, my child.

It will all end soon.

When the grass turns green

and the sky returns blue.

You can gayly play

and laugh once again-

with your father and mother

holding your hand.

Don’t cry, my child.

There will come a time

when the tears will cease

and benignly dry.

The lost will come home

and all will be done.

For not even war

can separate love.

Don’t cry, my child.

You’ll see them again-

when the daylight breaks

and the darkness then ends.

They will always be with you

close at heart.

Nothing will change that.

‘Til death do we part.

Please comment what you think of the diction. I struggled with the right words to use in this for a while.
