Shadows of Ash: Chapter 2A Chapter by Eva SiroisTwo weeks earlier, I had stood in my mother's room, listening gravely to what she had to say. My mother was tall, with black hair cut brutally short, and sharp, clear green eyes. These eyes are the trademark of Cypress Clan. Nothing escaped those eyes. They had the ability to see clearly into the heart of problems and of people. "Samaria," my mother said gravely, "the world is changing. Cypress Clan has always stayed neutral in the war, but it is time for the tide to turn. We must choose a side." "Between Oak and Ash?" I asked, and she nodded. "Cypress Clan is one of the smallest. 34 people remain alive and faithful to us. Now they shall be faithful to more than just our clan. We are joining allegiances with Oak. Their views and intentions are honorable, more honorable than Ash's." "How will we gain their trust? And who will make such a journey?" My mother grinned, then. A grin that would best even the most crafty of foxes. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about..." © 2011 Eva Sirois |
