She Knows This is For Her

She Knows This is For Her

A Poem by Mackenzie

Postcards with pictures of sailboats and smiles are sent. Bottles of wine are shared between friends on a night when the wind brushes our shoulders. The silk from your gown is weightless, just like you. I see now why I've wanted to be close for so long. We'll be friends forever you say, it's not enough to satisfy my heart. I'll see you after a while, your breath at my neck. Saying a much needed hello. The way you pretend your not angry, you know I'm leaving again soon. I had you once, or once, you had me. Not anymore. I loved you, it was easy.
