Changin'

Changin'

A Poem by Mackenzie

Turn the beat around.

Chapped lips taste my fingertips.

It's cold and you're wearing my favorite sweater. The one I wish you'd wear every day, because it's the most beautiful shade against your pale skin.

Freckles dancing, as you shiver and I'll hold you closer.

Waiting for the engine to get warm.

I take the car from neutral to first then third; we'll slow down tomorrow, when the gleam of the sun is blinding us.

Off to new places, new adventures where the people are as fresh as the air will be...bleeding into our lungs.

You'll sleep in my arms tangled in a hammock between two birch trees, the bees and butterflies will dance there, in the glow of dust and dusk.

We'll catch fireflies too.

In our jars, and light the way home, holding hands, nothing will come between.

Just as we both have always dreamed.
