Warrior

Warrior

A Poem by Mackenzie

Warrior

Swollen, like the belly of a beast, hungry and wanting. Friction sending chills through the tips of his toes as he grinds hard against the trails of the empty jungle. Frantically pacing through and through the deep brush. Eyes wide to see everything, or anything at all.

Skillfully resting in the bows as the evening draws still.

Fashioning tools from rocks and wood, let supper be served today. And so he prays.

Water cascading over the cliffs, a rich mans toliet, or a poor mans paradise.

Day breaks.

shining past the mountainous perils, gleams a plane, like a firefly in the horizon.

a sign of salvation, or a guardian of hell.
