A Poem by Mackenzie
"

This is about my dog, but honestly it could be about anyone who has been their for me during my life.

"

You woke me up with the sun

You called my bluff with my eyes still shut, corners of my lips pulled tight, barely hiding the teeth underneath.

Back porch lounging with cancer pressed to my over-used lips, stained red with flattery from moments past.

The view is simple, reflections of the scenery at the surface, glossy water lapping trunks of trees and stone.

Tugging at my arm you let me know it's time to go.

We'll walk side by side as long as you let me. Soon your mind drifts away, the birds and beavers hold more excitement, but you are aware as am I that we'll be together, not always.... for a while.

I really liked this one. I don't know, it just seems to hit me on some level, brings a tear to my eye. It is lovely though, just like everything I've read of yours.
