Thanks for Giving

Thanks for Giving

A Poem by Eunice Crankyponts
"

Thanks RagTag; you compelled me to write a new poem. It has been months! :)

"

Something about Thanksgiving

Causes a series of reflective points

As if looking in a mirror

Introspective natural feelings

Reminiscent of friendships long since dissolved.

Family members who have passed

Longing for the days gone by

Anticipation of delight.

Concentration of a melancholic nature

Holidays!

Resolving that friendships do not always last

Resigning the ambivalence of my soul

Freeing myself from the pain and anger

Having only love left to give

A gift not readily bestowed.

Disallowing  and disavowing hatred.

Everlasting memories

Unable to escape from the reality of truth

Solidifying my efficacy

Abilities bestowed

Yearning and pining

Pining and learning

Wonderment of this world

People come and people go

But forever imprinted on my soul.

You'll remain until the end.

Author's Note

Eunice Crankyponts
Please go easy on me; it has been months since I wrote a poem. I've had a serious case of writer's block causing disinterest in any attempts due to fear of failure. How did I do?

I think you're working your way back into writing very well. I like how you start almost neutral, dip into the negative a bit in the second stanza, but cast it in a more positive light at the end. I particularly like the balance in your lines "Yearning and pining/Pining and learning." Even though writers block can kick us all in the behind at times, I like how you're coming out of it. Nice job :) -JK
