Albatross Removed

A Poem by Eunice Crankyponts

Not knowing how to start over

Lamenting the passing

Wanting out

And it happened,

Now, what?

Wanting you to see

We are not arch enemies

Loving you always

We are not meant to be
Staying together meant

Longing for unattainable happiness

No more chances after the final blow.

Callousness and cruelty

Hurtful words

Name calling

Breaking every last piece of my heart

Day after day

Year after Year

Qualifying nothing

Irreparable damage is done

I lost myself somewhere along the way

Now, I am found

Nothing can hold me down

I like how you took a very mature view of the pain process. You (or the hypothetical you) need to allow for the time to heal and come out of the darkness before moving forward, spreading your wings and flying. I enjoyed the image of the albatross, too. Very nice poem, thanks for sharing.
