The Power of Sleep

The Power of Sleep

A Poem by Eunice Crankyponts

The magic power of sleep

How ridiculous

Sleeping will not change it,

Screaming will not heal it,

Talking, just makes it real.

Holding  it all inside

Manifestation of it, at another time

Hiding will not make it go away.

Small mouth, reinstated

BIG mouth finally mute

Bottle it up, toss it to the river

Float it in a tube

Carrying it all off

To another place in time,

I shiver,

I ache,

I ask why.

Thank you Samuel - You are absolutely correct in your assumption, "IT" is the pain, angst, and all of those negative emotions that some hold on to and never let go. :) Oh and thanks for the compliment on my name.

If I'm interpreting it right, the "it" that is tossed into a river is metaphorically "trouble," "pain," or something to that effect. If so, that's a familiar gesture to me. A fine piece of writing, Eunice. (Obtw, I love your name)
