Yellow No. 2A Poem by Eunice CrankypontsRecently, I took a poetry challenge and created a similar poem - this is the revision which is much longer than expected but still - a cathartic experience as always.
Wearing my yellow shirt Makes me feel alright Accentuating my positive Yet, I still feel lost in the crowd Both of us wandering aimlessly Finding each other Two loveless souls Torn and tattered Finding solace in each other Irreparable damage Begins to repair itself Yet, our time was cut short Leaving me yearning for more Frenetically I search Yet the patience becomes lost In the delay to your response I decided to bury my anger Deep within my soul Heeding the advice To shine with kindness I followed your cue Yet, I still don't know What to do with this shoe Shall I wear it in Remembrance of you? Instead I will remember the day You told me this true and deep connection However rare it is No ordinary friendship Connected by our disconnection Restless sleep Intimidated by the monster Unknowing response Fighting something bigger Than both of us can bear Unable to stop Unable to see Unwilling to bend Hearts on the mend. Could this be obsession I think not. © 2008 Eunice CrankypontsAuthor's Note
