Love's Razorblade

Love's Razorblade

A Poem by Eunice Crankyponts

Love’s Razorblade

Likes a clean cut

Love’s Razorblade

Leaving hearts to bleed

Leaving souls unsteady

Forever mourning the loss

Forever not understanding

Until Cupid arrives with his bow.

Aiming for the heart

He makes a direct hit

The mind forgets about

Love’s first cut for a brief time

Consistently and subconsciously

Waiting for the time

When things are perfect

Love’s Razorblade sneaks in again

Hewing another hole in the weakened heart

Cutting it’s way to the soul

This time, a not so clean hole

In fact, a gaping hole for all the world to see

Unstable soul loses direction

Love is never attempted again.
