Little Boy GreyA Poem by Ethan BoroianAn interracial couple gave birth to a boy on the 2nd of May, The mother was black, the father was white but their son came out grey, He was short, plump and would be associated with words like “juicy” He was teased at school, and never fit in, and felt like a lost character from “I love Lucy”, There the people were the same color as he, and thought that they’d never make fun, He tried to squeeze himself through his television set, but this was easier said than done… He was lonely and dejected, doomed to wander the world alone, Since his parents kicked him out once he was able to walk saying “don’t you ever come back home!” The parents had enough trouble living together in society, That keeping a son with grey skin, would only further the fathers anxiety, So the little boy grey walked for miles, much like a stray dog, That’s when he noticed something, there in the morning fog, A boy was walking towards him, and his skin appeared to be blue, Little boy grey asked him “did you get rejected too?” “Yeah”, he responded, “and I’ve been walking for days, I knew that I’d find someone like me, you must be little boy grey” “I am”, he said with smile, “and your blue skin is very impressive”, “Thanks” said the boy, “my parents are both manic-depressives”… © 2009 Ethan BoroianReviews
