A Day at the Beach

A Day at the Beach

A Poem by Atheana Kylee-S. C.

Sun, warmth, the sweat running down my forehead

Cool water rising to my feet

Wind blowing against my face

A nice umbrella shading me

My sister's sand castle stands before my very eyes

I watch her build her little sand castle

She uses a seagull's feather as her flag

The water rises, as it washes away her masterpiece

My sister giggles, and at the same time she laughs,

In my mind, I think to myself

'A beautiful piece of artwork wasted... how can she laugh when it's gone?'

The water rises and I can feel it, it's so fresh and cool

My feet buried in the sand, I close my eyes

Then I am inspired.
