That was my promise

It's broken now

In pieces at my feet

I told myself I wouldn't relive the pain

I wouldn't relive the fire

The deceit

The hurt

The disappointment

Never again would I turn to you

Your shoulder wet with my tears

I promised

And I will promise again

I will stand in front of the mirror,

Staring at the disapproving girl I see

I will raise my right hand and give an oath

Never to go back

To protect her

To save her from you
