The American Dream

The American Dream

A Poem by Ethan Talby

TV fakes, Mormonistic vampires, interweb hate, capitalistic empires,
10 year old dolls, fan boy fires, politics without balls, deficit getting higher,
Scapegoat soil, the unqualified hired, blue collar turmoil, twisted face liars
These are a few of my most hated things
From brat teens to the latest hijinks
America has become a facade covered in bling
But hey, that's the goal, right? Fame and security
You just have to be able to afford to be viewed as a being of pure immaturity
Don't forget to keep that impurity clouded in obscurity
I thought America was the freedom land
Just so long as you wear a mask and hide your hand
But rearrange mask and you got a bad skam
But this mask stretches over to our presidents like Obama
And although you think he's great for killing Osama
He's just another face reading off a teleprompta
So when I look at those who sweep knee deep in a trash heap for dirt cheap
I wanna weep but just learn to keep hold of that which I reap:
To live the American Dream you have to be asleep
