Cheesecake

Cheesecake

A Poem by Ethan Talby

This isn't an apology for you to change your mind
Just a rhyme for words I can't seem to find
First off, you know I'm here for you all the time
Second, I tell you everything in my life
But even if you stab me with a knife
I'd take five hundred more in strife
But this isn't about me, nor you
It's about us and our contradictory views
If I'm a poet you're definitely my muse
I know what I did was so wrong
But I'm a fool and my tongue just rolls along
Now look at me, a rolling stone
You know better than anyone who I am
Never clenching a fist, always holding out a hand
The soul of a boy in the body of a man
And even though you always put me down
I always stayed around
And kept my feet in the ground
Cause I was not going to let you waver me
No matter how much you behaved to me
Cause I'm the monster and you made me
I promised to always stick by my friends
Until the very end and I'd do it all again
But this is something I cannot mend
I guess I'm trying to say I accept this fate
Just please don't think of me in hate
This one is for you, Cheesecake
