Collectible Friend

Collectible Friend

A Poem by Ethan Talby
"

Each person is a friend who has made the most impact on my life.

"
The hardened cavemen took a stroll, wondering why he was never fed by a spoon
He took his club and grit as he left at high noon
And a few hours later he stopped dead at the sight of a raccoon
After it was eaten he saw a meteor and knew it will hit soon
There was no aftermath, it was the end
For my collectible friend

The knowledgeable library interfaced with what he could know
Only to find he was stuck with nowhere to go
So he decided to make himself known, not staying low
He then had to follow Bobby to desolation row
He comes back home time and time again
As my collectible friend

The mariachi band had many autographs to sign
They couldn't be fair to everyone since they had limited time
But people just came to their home and started a line
The band decided to go and leave it all behind
People had letters but didn't know where to send
To my collectible friend

The conceited cool guy got a new car and phone
He is soon to be a rolling stone
So in the mean time he enjoys his home
And those around him who always roam
He found something he must attend
Maybe my collectible friend

The perfect goddess was never one to be hesitant
Her Bette Davis eyes are like a siren's chant
And since she doesn't realize I'm existent
My love for her was never made evident
It's a shame we'll never blend
Now my collectible friend

The erratic love of my life had it all
She'd never catch me whenever I'd fall
But she's always there if I need to call
Then our relationship hit a wall
She never budged while I had to bend
Once my collectible friend

The mental patient would usually talk with herself
She never wanted anyone's pity or help
Yet she looked for advice for her painful yelp
Which is a challenge when dealing with a fairy and an elf
Wounds too deep to mend
Still my collectible friend

The lady Madonna knows how to make me smile
While I have the substance, she has the style
But my efforts with her are futile
Even though I'd wait an eternity, not awhile
Her presence makes me ascend
Forever my collectible friend

The whimsical fluency is due to the rhyme scheme, no doubt- which you constructed extremely well. This was very written very well, it was a joy to read.
