COLESLAW

COLESLAW

A Poem by asset balin

will you be my coleslaw

will you be, mom?

will you let me have the smell of the greens?

will you carry me in your arms again?

oh, it’s pretty cold and  rainy

pretty messy in my mouth, mom

i eat all alone now,

and I weep for you are gone.

i promise not to be an imp

i promise not to make any secrets

i promise that I will love you

i promise that there’s  nothing I would waste.

Will you let me taste your care again, mommy?

Will you let me smell your scented neck?

Will you make a cradle in your arms, mommy?

And lull me in my evening sleep?

Will you wipe the mayo on my cheek?

Will you eat with me again mommy even just in dreams?

Will you wipe dew mommy, just below my cheek?

Will you come now mommy?

I’m already tucked in my bed.
