The Last Day

I walked on the beach with you on one starry night

Holding your hand with all my might

The ocean was so calming and mild

It  made me want the moment to last forever

I didn't want to cry but I did anyway

There was no way I could keep this feeling inside of  me

We walked to the the end of the beach and you turned and looked at me

You said not to wait for you and live my life to the fullest

I cried even more in response

You said that this was going to be goodbye forever

“What do you mean forever, you will visit me again right?” I said

“ I sorry but I afraid this will be the last time you will ever see me” He said

He let go of my hand and walked away into the darkness

I called your number the next  today but your mother answered instead of you

I asked where you were and your mother said that you died one hour ago

For the past couple months you were fighting lung cancer that was worsting everyday

The last day you saw me, was truly the last day

I cried as I hung up the phone I couldn't believe it

Each day I was hoping all of this was just a dream, hoping that I will wake up from it  eventually

I will forever love you my darling but why didn't you tell me?
