Blue-Green Iris Spies

Blue-Green Iris Spies

A Poem by A.Taylor

what do you think
when you stare into my eyes?
I know you see past me,
I know you see right through my lies.
But what are your thoughts
that burn deep inside?
Do you know what it is
I subconsciously hide?
or are you searching for the answers?
just as I do.
If you found them, would you tell me?
or keep the secret just for you.
I've been told before
that my eyes can be read.
Like a book that breaks the code
to tell of what's inside my head.
Have you read through the verses?
found the key and found the door?
or are you stuck, aimlessly searching
intent on finding more.
what do you think
when you stare into my eyes?
i fear you'll find my secrets
with your blue-green iris spies.
what do you think
and pray-tell what do you see?
or when you look into my eyes
are you just as lost as me?

The good thing with poetry is that you can say exactly what you feel, but to remain with fully clothed emotions by dressing your words in metaphors. You can keep the reader entertained and in the same time to keep your emotions private. What is in between the lines is usually what define us all ... the same you could say about the eyes, a world of a heart! I enjoyed reading this very much!
