Letting Go

written about an old (obviously failed) relationship

my mind is twisting turning spinning
and i am tired of never winning
my heart is broken burning dying
and i am tired of even trying
my body is hungry hurting pleading
and i am tired of even bleeding

your actions are loving caring thoughtful
and still they make me feel so awful
your words are vindictive frightening wrong
and still i remain where i do not belong
your love is finicky childish untrue
and still i can't seem to let go of you

so my mind will twist and turn and spin
and i will continue to never win
my heart will break and burn and die
and i will continue to always try
my body will hunger and hurt and plead
and this wound you left will continue to bleed

but your actions will be wasted on someone else
because i can't put up with you only loving yourself
and your words will be silent or at least i won't hear
because wherever you are i'll be nowhere near
and your love will meas nothing since it was never even true
and i'll be happy again when my life is rid of you
