Hieroglyphs Of Change

Hieroglyphs Of Change

A Poem by Elizabeth Slaght
"

An older poem i wrote a few years back.

"
Slowly the pain of the past fades
Small faint marks remain
Like the hieroglyphs
Left behind by the Egyptians
The reality is immaturity

Another number
Added to your age
A psychological sign
Of what you have become
Nothing more

The truth is inside
Feelings hold more power
Then the Pharaoh's could have dreamed of
I wonder if King Tut knew this ?

So why
When I feel your hand upon my face
Do I feel as though
I swirl in this sand storm of time
That my feelings have created before
The same storm
That encased the Shpinx
Oh so long ago

With everything I am
I stand beside you with no worries
Like the strong
Still defined pyramids
For all eternity

A promise I must ask,
Don't let the sands
Encase me in my tomb
And don't let these tears
Flood our world like the deceiving Nile
