A SELF PORTRAIT

A SELF PORTRAIT

A Poem by Sathish Kumar
"

Reflections of mind

"

Is it true,

Pains of empty solitude

Fetch collapsing creaks and groans?

The conflict of togetherness and separation

Defines the duality of my emotions

And sketches the color of my love

           You know not, perhaps.

When I heard

You are no one dearer to me

I pretended perfectly cool

Sitting fifteen miles away

From the chance of meeting you.

           A life time of conclusions

           Betrayed, perhaps; I felt.

In that mood of flickering irony

Dark clouds of a shut heart

           Enveloped my weary mind

Flatly disorienting the words we talked

And nothing else was required …..

Is it true,

Pains of empty solitude

Fetch collapsing creaks and groans?

Each verse of this poem falls to the soul like dew to the pasture. It's very hard to explain pain of an empty solitude. An unconditional chase of falling with a lost trust is gut-wrenching. Every words connects me with a multitude of emotions. Keep writing brother, Glad to read this emotional write.
