I Blame Society

I Blame Society

A Poem by Meriah

I Blame Society

Meriah Escarcega

I blame society,

For how we see beauty.

Why should weight define if I’m beautiful?

When my personality is wonderful.

Just because I have no thigh gap

Doesn't mean I need to feel like crap.

I am who I am,

So take the negativity to the dam.

Why do you get to drain on my parade?

And make me want to grab my blade.

Everyone has their own flaws

Just as cats have claws.

Don’t bring me down for them

They’re what make me a gem.

Nobody is perfect

And that’s no secret.

If you have a definition of beauty

Your morals better be heavenly.

You think my weight makes me ugly?

Well I blame society.
