Battle Scars

Battle Scars

A Poem by Meriah

Left all alone in her room,

The thoughts begin to invade her mind.

Tears start down her cheeks.

She wonders if her happiness will ever bloom.

Sadness becomes her only emotion.

No one hears her cries,

They all think she’s fine.

Her thoughts drown her like an ocean.

She only wishes to be free.

Free of tears, sadness, & pain.

Free of rejection and depression.

Will she ever feel happy?

She reaches for her blade.

Running it against her skin,

Feeling the sting, watching the red.

The thoughts slowly start to fade.

“One cut, two cut, three,”

She thinks to herself,

As the memories begin,

“Now will you love me?”

Looking out at the midnight stars,

She wonders if he is too.

Her mind goes blank, her body numb,

Feeling nothing, but her Battle Scars.
