They stood behind their marching drums
And, boy, did they have fun
Knocking on your door again
To take you from your sleeping ways
They persuade you to exagerate a memory or two
And listen to you speak
About how you held the world on a string Yeah, we're all feeling so good
There are feathers everywhere
But that's the best part
Along side the sweet singing in new voices
And you awake from sleeping in the rain
And smile at the thought of the ones
Who came and saved you from
Your life that was going to waste
I liked the whole feel and atmosphere of this poem.
I don't know what it is about it, but for some strange reason it made me feel almost powerful.
Great work!
I've never liked getting out of bed even though I'm good-to-go once I'm up. Intended or not, your poem reminded me of how I feel when the alarm (drums) goes off and it's time to rise and shine from my dreams (sleeping in the rain). I really enjoyed your poem and hope I'm not too far off in its interpretation. :-) Sharon
i love. the last stanza especially. ties it all up in a pretty ribbon for me. and the coloring/format is really interesting too. makes it moreso worth a reread.
