“I just want to live my life” said every teenager ever.
Why does every teenager say this? Well this is why.
Because we stay up until 2am working on homework, then in 6 hours we are expected to do more work. It’s a constant cycle and we always end up sick or exhausted. Teenagers are not meant to be doing school work all the time. We are supposed to have fun and live our lives. We are supposed to go to parties and watch tv.
We teenagers were still learning. We fight over stupid things, we criticize everything. We fall in love and end up getting hurt. We want to party till dawn, we want go out all night with our friends. We want to go out and live our lives to the fullest. People say some of the best memories and times they had were during high school.
Why is it that during the years of life from the ages of 13-18 that we are so judged. You are told to not do this and to not do that. Even if you’re the best you can be, you don’t do drugs, or have sex everyday, or stay up late drinking and partying. You go to church and do all your homework. You do everything you are asked to do. And we still get judged for doing the right thing. Even if we do bad things that's how we learn.
People don’t understand teenagers, we aren’t kids but we are not adults either, we fall in between. Our lives being teenagers are to make mistakes and take chances. Parents tell us stories of them being a teenager and expect us to not do anything. But we learn by making mistakes, taking chances and actually living our life. “Nobody understands me” said the teenager.
