Malaise

Malaise

A Poem by Erudite
"

Sad poem about pain

"
I've got a brick in my chest.
I take it out, throw it to the floor,
And stomp on it, just to feel more.

It's a heavy little heart I carry through my days.
It's crippled and stricken with this frickin' malaise.

I smile and shake a hand,
But the other person grips
Barely past my finger tips.
As if they're touching an ice sculpture.

In the ocean I float on my back and bask in the sun
As if to recharge my cold stone heart with solar power,
And this respite does the trick, if only for a while.
But when I return to the shore I'm met by my family and friends...
Whom all seem to share a scheme
Of plucking away any sparkle in my eyes.
